Built on the site of the Cheriton Fruit Garden strawberry farm, BELLEVUE SQUARE was laid out on a city street grid similar to that used for Kansas City, Missouri's COUNTRY CLUB PLAZA. Twenty-nine original SQUARE stores opened for business between March 1946 and April 1947.
