A 12.4-acre parcel, adjacent to the west end of BENTLEY MALL, was developed in the early 1990s. A Pace Membership Warehouse was built as a "shadow anchor." The store was officially dedicated in November 1992.

Wal-Mart Stores acquired ninety-one Pace Membership Warehouse locations in November 1993. The Fairbanks unit was part of this transaction. It was converted to a Sam's Club in June 1994.

The Fairbanks Sam's Club was in operation until January 2018, when sixty-three Sam's stores were shuttered in unison. Costco assumed the vacant building and opened for business in November 2018.

Our second BENTLEY plan illustrates the mall and its outparcels as they stood in 1998. Earlier in the year, an east end addition (in gray) was completed. This enlarged the Safeway and brought in Office Max as a third anchor store. The newly-enlarged mall now covered around 170,600 leasable square feet.
