The west anchor at BENTLEY MALL opened, in April 1977, as a Pay 'n Save Drug. The buiding covered 28,000 square feet.

The Pay 'n Save chain was acquired by PayLess Drug Stores. The BENTLEY MALL location was rebranded, as a PayLess Drug, in May 1993. It closed for good in 1998.

The mall's vacant pharmacy was refashioned into a Michaels arts & crafts store, which welcomed first shoppers in March 1999.

BENTLEY MALL was given an indoor-outdoor renovation in 2006. It was, and is, the preeminent retail complex in Fairbanks, as well as the largest mall in its trade area.

As previously mentioned, the BENTLEY Safeway was expanded in 1997-1998. It was renovated again as part of the mall's 2006 facelift. With these improvements, the store -the largest in the mall- encompasses around 49,400 square feet.
