A circa-1995 plan shows the anchor orientation of a newly-expanded shopping hub. Denver Dry Goods, on the north end, closed due to a merger with May D & F in 1987. Mervyn's assumed the store space. May D & F, on the west end, morphed into a Houston-based Foley's in 1993. A fourth anchor store (in light gray) has just opened on the east side of the complex.

THE CITADEL Dillard's welcomed first shoppers in August 1995. The store encompassed 3 shopping levels and 183,000 square feet.

In a cut-away view of the 3-tiered CITADEL complex, the original mall is indicated in light gray. It was situated on 2 levels. During the mid-'80s expansion, a third level was added. It was located below the lower level of the existing mall. In essence, a Mid-Level was the only floor that extended from one end of the structure to the other.
