A new CROSSROADS logo debuted in November 1982. The shopping hub fared well until July 1985, when a new -and larger- retail complex entered its trade area. VALLEY VIEW MALL, which contained 886,100 leasable square feet, was less than a mile away.

As a keeping up with VALLEY VIEW measure, CROSSROADS was given a 2 million dollar renovation. Work was completed in September 1985, with the mall being repositioned as a "discount pricing" venue. A new name was bestowed; CROSSROADS CONSUMER MALL.

The CONSUMER conversion was unsuccessful. A few new stores had opened (Tons O' Toys and Circuit City). Still others (Winn-Dixie and the Eagles Variety Store) had closed. By December 1988, 200,000 square feet of mall area was vacant. The complex was -once again- promoted as CROSSROADS MALL. Proving that
everything old is new again, the old 1982-1985 logo was reinstated in October 1989.
