The AZALEA MALL Woolco welcomed first shoppers in November 1962. It opened along with thirteen inline stores and services.

AZALEA MALL was developed in two phases. The first, shown in black, included the Woolco store and was comprised of fourteen stores. Phase 2 (light gray) added Thalhimers ["Thall-hiy-merz"] and fifteen stores. By mid-1963, the 5 million dollar complex covered approximately 295,000 leasable square feet, with thirty tenant spaces. Free parking was provided for 3,000 autos.
