A Mid-Century Modern Sears anchored the north end of the complex, which was North Dakota's first regional-class shopping mall. It was implemented in five phases between 1964 and 1989.
Before SOUTH FORKS PLAZA was completed, two small community-sized shopping centers had opened in North Dakota. ARROWHEAD CENTER {in Minot} was launched in 1962. Stores in Bismarck's NORTHBROOK CENTER (seen above) held grand openings in 1963.
