Welcome to the largest mall and retail history site on the internet!

SOUTH FORKS PLAZA originated with two structures that were not connected. The southern section, completed in 1964, housed the nation's first shopping-mall-anchor Kmart. The north section, finished in 1965, was anchored by Sears.

A twin-screen cinema was added to the mall in the early '70s. The Midcontinent Plaza Twin Theatres 1 & 2 made its debut in early 1973.
