SOUTH FORKS PLAZA originated with two structures that were not
connected. The southern section, completed in 1964, housed the
nation's first shopping-mall-anchor Kmart. The north section, finished
in 1965, was anchored by Sears.
A twin-screen cinema was added to the mall in the early '70s. The Midcontinent Plaza Twin Theatres 1 & 2 made its debut in early 1973.
