The SIOUX EMPIRE complex gave WESTERN MALL quite a beating between the late 1970s and early 2000s. As a result, WESTERN MALL went through periods of decline and renewal. Documenting all of the major stores that came and went during those years would be a daunting task. To simplify things, we created this drawing.

By 2010, the shopping hub is promoted as THE WESTERN MALL. It features tenants such as Best Buy and Hancock Fabrics. The cinema relocated into a new 7-plex in 1987. Ward's old building was replaced by Scheels All Sports, and a 4-store strip center, in 2002. Inside the mall, a furniture store opened in 1997 and expanded in 2005, taking in most of the East Wing.
