A rendering of a shopping-center-to-be...that never panned out. A change in ownership of Chicago-based Carson's resulted in construction on a power center project being delayed and finally abandoned. Plans for a new Carson's were scrapped, as well.

A second rendering depicts what was actually built at the WOODMAR MALL site. The Hammond Sportsplex, an 18 million dollar indoor athletic center, was officially dedicated in late 2018. The Carson's store, seen on the right, closed for good in 2018 and was knocked down in August 2019.
