The third expansion of the mall -completed in November 1992- added the Picnic In The Garden food court to the south-facing facade. The 12-bay culinary complex featured an 85-foot-high quadrangular skylight. The completion of the Picnic facility expanded the gross leasable area of SOUTHLAND CENTER to approximately 1,053,000 square feet.

Alas, Picnic In The Garden had become passe' by 2005. It was gutted, partially demolished and expanded southward into a new Best Buy. The towering skylight became part of the new store.
