To increase foot traffic, a 12-bay Food Court was installed in the North (Macy's Home) Wing in September 2004. The official name of the complex was also truncated to WESTFIELD MISSION VALLEY in June of the following year. Michaels jumped from the big box Promenade area over to a section of the old Sport Chalet space in 2018.

The east anchor at MISSION VALLEY operated under three different nameplates between February 1961 and March 2017. Macy's was the most recent tenant. The Mid-Mod structure was designated as "historically significant" by San Diego's Historical Resources Board in January 2016. It is being renovated and refitted with inline store spaces as part of a mall redevelopment.
