Welcome to the largest mall and retail history site on the internet!

Ruby's World Of Tomorrow Diner, at the center of the mall. Its decor was based upon the architecture of the 1939-1940 New York World's Fair. That's a Trylon on the left. The restaurant closed for good in 2018.

Meanwhile, Oz-based Westfield bought into the MISSION VALLEY mall in 1994 and established full ownership in 1996. A 3-year-long renovation concluded in the following year. Five northeast store blocks were rebuilt into large big box stores and a movie megaplex added to the front facade. Moreover, the mall was now connected into the San Diego Trolley light rail network. A new name was bequeathed in late 1998; WESTFIELD SHOPPINGTOWN MISSION VALLEY.
