Welcome to the largest mall and retail history site on the internet. The MALL HALL OF FAME is a vintage shopping mall scrapbook. Its focus is on shopping complexes built -in the USA- between 1946 and 1979. Don't forget to visit our four Shopping Mall Memory Lanes, which transport you through time to a mall in 1956, 1963, 1970 and 1977!

San Diego-based Walker Scott opened a MISSION VALLEY store in 1973. It was a smaller, boutique-type operation, which was more of an inline store than mall anchor.

In the early '70s, Camino de la Reina (running along the north side of the mall) was rerouted, enlarging the rear parking area. This allowed for the first expansion of the mall (in dark gray), This project added an LA-based Bullock's and eleven inline stores. This North Wing addition was completed in 1975.
