The other major enclosed retail hub in the borough was situated one block northwest of the QUEENS CENTER complex. QUEENS PLACE, a redo of a circa-1965 Macy's, housed stores such as Target, Best Buy and Macy's Furniture Gallery. When officially dedicated in November 2001, the "vertical power center" encompassed 440,000 leasable square feet.
