The original footprint of SOUTH COAST PLAZA. In late 1968, the center spanned 1.1 million leasable square feet, housed seventy stores and services, and provided free parking for 6,500 autos. The mall was adjacent to a newly-opened stretch of the Interstate 405 freeway.
