The original VILLA ITALIA was predominantly a single-level structure. Two of its anchors (Joslins and J.C. Penney) had second levels, as did F.W. Woolworth, the Gran Piazza (center court) and a portion of the Northwest Wing. In 1971, the shopping hub covered approximately 800,000 leasable square feet. It featured seventy-seven store spaces, four kiosks and twenty-two outparcel businesses. Free parking was provided for 5,000 autos.
