A major renovation was finished in 1985, with the Northwest Wing being rebuilt. A second floor was extended over the mall and a fourth anchor (Broadway Southwest, later Foley's) added. Unfortunately, competition from SOUTHWEST PLAZA and a new CHERRY CREEK CENTER mall was taking its toll. By 1998, VILLA ITALIA was in a downward spiral.
