Denver's University Hills Center

UNIVERSITY HILLS CENTER was built in three phases. The first, which consisted of the strip complex seen here, was dedicated in August 1951. Inline stores included Leenert's Hardware, Dependable Cleaners & Shirt Laundry, a haberdashery (men's furnishings store) and Yarbro Drugs.

The second construction phase added a Denver-based May Company Colorado. Dedicated in September 1955, it included the Leadville Room, "the city's showplace dining room." A new nameplate appeared in 1957. The May Company Colorado and Daniels & Fisher chains were rebranded simultaneously as May-Daniels & Fisher (a.k.a. May-D & F).
