Welcome to the largest mall and retail history site on the internet. The MALL HALL OF FAME is a vintage shopping mall scrapbook. Its focus is on shopping complexes built -in the USA- between 1946 and 1979. Don't forget to visit our four Shopping Mall Memory Lanes, which transport you through time to a mall in 1956, 1963, 1970 and 1977!

Second Phase additions to WESTLAND CENTER are shown in shades of gray. Sears opened its doors in March 1963. The final two store blocks were completed at this time. The shopping complex, which now spanned approximately 434,500 leasable square feet, had free parking provisions for 2,700 autos. The open-air mall would re-open, as a fully enclosed facility, in November 1968.
