By the mid-1970s, with two fully-enclosed malls in its midst, it was time for CAPITOL COURT to be roofed-in. This was done between March 1977 and August 1978. An updated logo was also commissioned.

We couldn't find a single store map of CAPITOL COURT, so all site plans are provisional. A circa-1978 layout depicts the mall following its 7 million dollar roofing renovation. According to eyewitness accounts, courts and concourses were given a "gardenlike" enclosure. Existing stores were expanded and new tenants added to the directory. Moreover, a Food Court was created. The newly-enclosed mall housed around 850,000 leasable square feet.

We zoom through time to the year 1996. The shopping hub has been in a downward spiral for several years. An unsuccessful face lift was done, followed by the demolition of the two vacant anchor stores. Around 650,000 square feet of the mall has been left standing...at least for the time being.
