Browns was the original mall's second anchor store. The mercantile operated at PENN SQUARE for nearly 25 years.

The City of Shops, as it was configured in 1960. The 12 million dollar complex was comprised of a single retail level (three department stores, and a bank, had upper floors). The open-air complex spanned approximately 582,000 leasable square feet. There were forty-six stores and services and parking accommodations for 4,200 autos.
