EL CENTRO MALL was acquired by Houston's Levcor in 2007. They soon proposed a face lift-type renovation. It would take several years for a redevelopment to get underway. In the meantime, a couple of names were floated around. In a 2008 prospectus, the refurbished mall was to be known as SHOPS AT EL CENTRO. Eventually, Levcor decided to raze the enclosed facility and build an open-air power plaza (seen above).
