Fort Lauderdale's Coral Ridge Shopping Plaza

The lineage of the interior mall in Florida starts with an enclosed concourse added to Orlando's COLONIAL PLAZA. Dedicated in October 1962, it made that shopping hub Florida's first "enclosed mall". The first Florida facility built as a fully-enclosed structure was Fort Lauderdale's CORAL RIDGE SHOPPING PLAZA, which opened for business in November 1962.
