Houston's sibling shopping centers were developed simultaneously by the Rouse Company. ALMEDA MALL spanned 797,000 leasable square feet; NORTHWEST MALL encompassed 794,000. Both complexes were dedicated in October 1968.
By 1976, a few things had changed, NORTHWEST-wise. Foley's had been enlarged. It is possible that the Foley's Tire Center and Penneys Auto Center had been shuttered by this time.
