STEWART-LAKEWOOD CENTER was an expansion of a circa-1952 strip plaza (in black). An open-air mall was added in two phases. The first, depicted here in medium gray, opened in 1959. At this time, the 5 million dollar center spanned 230,000 leasable square feet. There was free parking for 2,000 autos.
