The opening of GREENBRIAR CENTER -in 1965- contributed to the decline of STEWART-LAKEWOOD CENTER during the late '60s and early '70s. A remodeling was conducted between February and August 1983, with the name of the mall changed to CROSSROADS AT STEWART LAKEWOOD.
The 1980s revitalization was not successful. By the turn of the century, the STEWART-CROSSROADS complex was dilapidated and partially vacant. Store blocks on its northwest corner were demolished in 2006. The remaining structure was promoted as CROSSROADS CENTER. Inline stores include Family Dollar, Rent-A-Center and Lakewood Discount Beauty Supply.
