The opening of GREENBRIAR CENTER -in 1965- contributed to the decline of STEWART-LAKEWOOD CENTER during the late '60s and early '70s. A remodeling was conducted between February and August 1983, with the name of the mall changed to CROSSROADS AT STEWART LAKEWOOD.

The 1980s revitalization was unsuccessful. By the turn of the 21st century, the CROSSROADS complex was partially vacant. Store blocks on its northwest corner were demolished in 2006. An abandoned northeast block, which had housed a cinema, fell to the wrecking ball in 2022. By this time, cleared space on the west end of the site had been utilized for the new Hartland Station Apartments. Leasing began in late 2021.
