In this circa-1984 diagram of the "Proposed Salem Skywalk System", we see NORDSTROM MALL as it was -then- incorporated with its surrounding structures. Only four of the above-grade walkways depicted here would be completed. Those linking with the PayLess (Drug) Block, Reed Opera House, and First Interstate and Equitable (Bank of America) Buildings would never be built.
