Zooming through time 7 more years, we come to a physical layout of a substantially renovated CHULA VISTA CENTER. The mall has been rebuilt (in gray) and enlarged to 823,000 leasable square feet. Fifth Avenue, that used to divide the mall site into, has been removed. The complex now connects with the freestanding Sears on its east end.

One of two court areas added to the mall during its late 1980s makeover. This one sits midway between the Macy's (nee' The Broadway) and Sears stores, in a two level section of the shopping center.

Between 1992 and 1994, CHULA VISTA CENTER was expanded again. This time around, a combination CinemaStar multiplex and Sav-On Drug was added, along with a fourth anchor (Mervyn's) and adjacent parking garage. With these modifications, the mall spanned approximately 923,000 leasable square feet. There were over 100 stores and parking provisions for 3,800 autos.

A tower erected at the northwest corner of the mall during the 1990s renovation. The See's Candies seen here occupies space originally leased as part of a Foreman & Clark apparel store.
