QUEENS CENTER is the only suburban-type mall with access to the city's labyrinthine subway. Although the shopping hub is not directly linked with the adjacent station, it is a short walk between the two. The stop opened in December 1936. Since then, its Slattery Plaza association has become archaic. Subway system maps began to refer to the station as Woodhaven Boulevard-Queens Mall in the late 1980s.
