WINROCK CENTER was developed by Winthrop Rockefeller (1912-1973), who was the thirty-seventh governor of Arkansas. The name of the complex was an amalgamation of his name. It has been told that Rockefeller paid for the mall's 9 million dollar construction cost in cash.
