Greater Boston's SHOPPERS' WORLD opened -in October 1951- with a Brockelman Brother's Market. This store was rebranded as a Stop & Shop in September 1953. A new Stop & Shop (depicted on the previous page) was added to the north end of the mall.

Greater Detroit's innovative NORTHLAND CENTER housed a mall-connected Kroger supermarket. The first NORTHLAND stores, including Kroger, were officially dedicated in March 1954.
