Welcome to the largest mall and retail history site on the internet. The MALL HALL OF FAME is a vintage shopping mall scrapbook. Its focus is on shopping complexes built -in the USA- between 1946 and 1979. Don't forget to visit our four Shopping Mall Memory Lanes, which transport you through time to a mall in 1956, 1963, 1970 and 1977!

In this aerial view from September 1966, we see that two structures have been added to the 4-year-old shopping complex. On the far right are the recently-completed Hilldale Professional Building and single-screen Hilldale Theatre.

HILLDALE CENTER was enclosed with a network of steel and glass panels. The new "enclosed" mall was dedicated in March 1970. Tenants at the time included Julie Ann Fabrics, Lord Jim men's wear and Hoffman's Double-H Steak House.
