Greater Baltimore was over-malled by the early '80s. By 1981, there were sixteen major shopping centers. This proliferation took its toll on GOLDEN RING. The complex was in a downward spiral by the middle of the decade. A face lift, to revitalize the property, got underway in the spring of 1992 (this being the mall's only renovation). A refurbished Main Entrance is seen above.

The mall's movie houses were reconfigured and refurbished in the mid-1990s. By the time of this advert (December 1995), there were three cinema complexes. The UA Movies 1-2-3-4-5-6, Movies 7-8 and Movies 9-10-11-12.

Over its short 26-year trajectory, GOLDEN RING MALL was never physically expanded, so this circa-1995 plan is not appreciably different from our 1977 layout. The only major changes were the shuttering of Stewart's in January 1983, its re-opening as a Caldor discount store, and the shuffling of the mall's cinemas in the 1990s.
