Since 2008, the corporate and store nameplate has been spelled sans-hyphen. Walmart SuperCenters -such as the Windham, Connecticut store seen here- average 178,000 square feet, with newer units encompassing only 120,000.

The first Walmart Neighborhood Market opened -in Bentonville, Arkansas- in October 1998. Stores, such as the Valdosta, Georgia operation shown here, measure between 28,000 and 65,000 square feet and carry only grocery items.
