The very first Caldor unit, a 1,500 square foot appliance store, opened for business in November 1951. This mercantile, which had also been installed in a former Mill building, was similar to original stores in the Ames, Ann & Hope and Mammoth Mart chains. Our oldest Caldor logo (seen above) dates to 1957.
