A vintage view of the original east anchor. It opened, as a freestanding store, in April 1966. With its completion, Sears had retail stores in all of the fifty states. Note: THE MALL would be added to the right (or west) side of the building.

In 1968, THE MALL encompassed around 272,600 leasable square feet. Sears and Carrs were expanded in the early '70s (in light gray). In 1975, the complex covered 314,300 leasable square feet. There was free parking for 1,100 autos.
