The world's first Woolco store opened its doors June 6, 1962, at GREAT SOUTHERN SHOPPERS CITY, on the southern outskirts of Columbus, Ohio. The Woolco store, which encompassed 106,000 square feet of sales area, was an addition to the north end of a circa-1957 strip center.
