In 1973, BLUE RIDGE MALL is newly-remodeled and fully-enclosed. The shopping hub now envelops over 1 million leasable square feet and houses 100 stores and services. It is promoted as "Mid-America's Largest Shopping Center," although Greater Saint Louis' NORTHWEST PLAZA was very likely larger.

Several modifications were done as part of the early '70s enclosure and expansion. J.C. Penney's original store, now vacant, was sectioned into the new South Court, a 2-level mall within a mall containing twenty-eight boutiques and restaurants. The lower level Community Concourse was given a face lift, with connections made into the lower level of the South Court.
