Welcome to the largest mall and retail history site on the internet. The MALL HALL OF FAME is a vintage shopping mall scrapbook. Its focus is on shopping complexes built -in the USA- between 1946 and 1979. Don't forget to visit our four Shopping Mall Memory Lanes, which transport you through time to a mall in 1956, 1963, 1970 and 1977!

Joske's built a freestanding store in the vicinity of the future GALLERIA mall. Joske's-Post Oak, which opened in August 1963, became a "shadow anchor" of the shopping complex.

A fully-enclosed mall, added to Neiman-Marcus, was dedicated in late 1970. THE GALLERIA (a.k.a GALLERIA POST OAK) encompassed 600,000 leasable square feet, with an initial sixty stores and services. Parking was provided for 7,040 autos.
