Meanwhile, in April 1999, the Hope Evangelical Covenant Church moved into their new sanctuary at the mall. It utilized the old South Forks Pavilion. The concept of a shopping mall church came about in the early '60s, when a sanctuary opened at Boston's NORTHSHORE CENTER. Mall churches were also installed in Philly's PLYMOUTH MEETING MALL and New Jersey's BERGEN MALL, to name a few.
