A Butler Brothers department store was one of the first operational LAKEWOOD CENTER tenants.

The Boys was one of two supermarkets at the original LAKEWOOD CENTER. These originally stood at the northeast and southeast corners of the mall. The Boys and Hiram's each encompassed 45,200 square feet; this at a time when a "large" supermarket would have covered no more than 30,000.
