Nashville's Harding Mall

Nashville's HARDING MALL, formally dedicated in June 1966, was the Volunteer State's first fully-enclosed shopping center. It was followed by Memphis' SOUTHLAND MALL (inaugurated in August 1966) and Nashville's 100 OAKS MALL (which debuted in October 1967).

Plans for HARDING MALL were announced in the summer of 1962. Ground was broken in the spring of 1963. Apparently, construction did not get underway immediately, because the mall's first store did not open until August of 1965.
