Welcome to the largest mall and retail history site on the internet!

SOUTHTOWN MALL was built in two stages. The first, officially dedicated in September 1969, consisted of Montgomery Ward, Wolf & Dessauer and fifty inline stores. The second phase added J.C. Penney, which was dedicated in January 1971. The fully-enclosed mall now covered approximately 747,800 leasable square feet.

One of the charter SOUTHTOWN tenants was Richman Brothers, a popular men's wear store.
