This Hoosier State shopping hub was built in the Woodmar district of Hammond. Construction started on WOODMAR CENTER in December 1953.

The concave-shaped shopping plaza was designed by renowned mall architect Victor Gruen. It featured a pentagonal Carson Pirie Scot department store at its center point. A National Food supermarket extended from its south end.
