By 2006, ZCMI CENTER MALL and CROSSROADS PLAZA had declined into virtually vacant venues. Demolition commenced in November and continued into the following year. A New Urbanism-style replacement, known as CITY CREEK CENTER, debuted in March 2012.

The Salt Lake City Marriott hotel was completed in 1981, as part of the CROSSROADS PLAZA development. It was spared demolition and given a renovation in 2008, which was accompanied by a new name; Marriott Downtown At City Creek.

A new Nordstrom was built as part of CITY CREEK CENTER. The 124,000 square foot store held its grand opening in March 2012.
