San Diego's Mission Valley Center

San Diego's "exciting new shopping city" was originally promoted with this
logo. It depicted a swallow, a bird associated with California's Spanish missions.

The MISSION VALLEY Montgomery Ward depicted above was (at the time) the chain's largest store west of the Mississippi. The building encompassed 219,000 square feet and anchored the mall between February 1961 and March 2001.
