San Diego's Fashion Valley 


The second shopping mall developed by Southern California's Ernest W. Hahn was built in San Diego's Mission Valley. First stores were dedicated, with a "Cruise To Fashion Valley" charity ball, in September 1969.

Long Beach-based Buffums' anchored the southeast corner of the original mall. The store, which was the chain's ninth branch, encompassed 2 levels and 80,000 square feet. Its claim to fame was The Ballast Room, an upscale restaurant.
