This is how a new mixed-use environment was to be configured. The mall between two anchors would be bulldozed (again), with a tree-lined grid of streets created. New retail, residential, medical and entertainment structures would have been built.

Plans for the prospective LANDMARK "walkable, mixed-use urban village" were abandoned in the early 2020s. It was decided that a medical facility should be built on the cleared mall site. Inova Alexandria Hospital At Landmark will open its doors in 2028.
