A giant-sized J.C. Penney anchored the center section of the original FASHION ISLAND. The store encompassed 3 levels and 186,000 square feet.

In a close-up aerial of the 20 million dollar facility, its lush landscaping and reflecting pools may be seen. The layout of the complex was rather unique. Its store blocks were arranged in a stair-step fashion to relieve the monotony of a continuous strip of stores.
